ARTIST BIO
Kayla James is a Jamaican American Illustrator and writer. She graduated Summa Cum Laude from the Fashion Institute of Technology, with a BFA in Illustration and a double minor in Art History and English. She also graduated from the High School of Art and Design, and Parsons School of Design's Pre-College program.
James has had her work exhibited at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Phyllis Harriman Mason Gallery, the Pomerantz Art and Design Center, the Museum at FIT, Parsons School of Design, and backstage of the Music Box Theater.
She has won two National Scholastics Art Silver Medals, two Regional Gold Keys, one Silver Key, and one Honorable Mention in the Scholastics Art and Writing Awards.
James aims to work in publishing, and in the film/entertainment industry, producing posters, covers, interiors, picture books, graphic novels, and album cover art.
